NORTHERN SUMMER

Summer in North, first in the waves of Norwegian and Barents Sea, then hiking the fells. Around lakes, deeper in the fjords. Calm waves, many bonfires, wrapped in many layers, with wide smiles, even with big puddles inside shoes. Whales, crowberries, cloudberries, eagles and crows. Mist that covers the fell tops.

  3. What an amazing adventure! The photos remind me of all northern fairy tales I read as a child.
And I love the skillet on the 6th photo (especially the handle :)) - you can see it has been used for many, many years of preparing good food for weary wanderers (or sailors;)).

    1. Dear Emilia,

Actually the skillet was on its first trip there. It got a nice patine on its first use already. The meals were so tasty cooked with it on fire. The handle we chose each time again from our surroundings, every time as pleasant and perfect! (:

    2. Oh, that's surprising! It definitely doesn't look like a new one. Or maybe I just wanted it to be nearly as old as all these rocks ;) The idea of choosing a new handle before each meal sounds nice, but what happened to the original one?

    3. I think the skillet was originally like this, the lighter the better to carry :)

  4. PS Oh, not only fairy tales, what I'm thinking of, but also 'Kristin Lavransdatter'. All that wild and severe nature. Really love it.

    2. It is a great novel by Norwegian author, Sigrid Undset, set in medieval Norway. Fascinating saga, really.

  6. Hello again. I'm wondering, Anna Emilia: have you seen an Irish animated film "Song of the sea"? I bet you'd love it (I did!). And there's a lighthouse too. You like them, don't you? :)

    1. Dear Emilia,

So far I did not see it, but I try to find it. You are very right! On my summer sail there were 58 lighthouses on the way… Most of them I saw and sighed each time so deeply!

    2. 58! Unbelievable.
"Song of the sea" - the most beautiful and moving film I've seen for a long time. And the most beautiful soundtrack. Try to find it, it's absolutely worth watching :)
